What is Self Storage?

Self storage is a ‘do-it-yourself’ storage concept for both business and domestic users. At Bigfoot you hold the key to your own clean, dry and secure storage room. All our rooms are accessible using a personalised access code for added security.

It’s also a flexible arrangement that allows you to store for as long or as short as you like.

How much will it cost?

The cost of a storage unit depends on the size you need. We have a wide range of different sized storage units available. Use our online size guide to provide you with a clear indication of what size of unit may be required. We will then provide you with a specific quotation for the unit you require.

What security is there?

Bigfoot operates sophisticated security systems including 24 hour CCTV across all corridors and access areas. Our site is protected by personalised access code control and the latest alarm technology.

Do I need my own padlock?

Yes, only you have access to your unit. You hold the key to your own room.

What about Insurance?

We require you to insure your goods whilst in storage. We provide comprehensive and adequate security cover based on the total value of your goods.

How do I pay?

Storage charges are payable in advance prior to the rental period charged.

We accept credit and debit cards, cheques or cash. For greater convenience we can also arrange for Direct Debit payments to be made. Payments can be made either in person or over the phone.

Are there any limitations to what I can store?

The following are classed as prohibited goods and are not to be stored:

  • Foodstuffs that have not been securely packed or exposed
  • Living plants & animals
  • Combustible or flammable materials or liquids such as gas, paint, petrol, oil or cleaning solvents
  • Unauthorised or illegal goods such as firearms, explosives, weapons or ammunition
When can I have access to my items?

Unlimited access is available free of charge during our long opening hours. Access out of hours can also be arranged (subject to charges) for clients who may require different individual access requirements.

What is the minimum rental period?

The minimum rental period is 4 weeks.

How quickly can I move in?

You can move in on the same day as your enquiry – it’s as quick as that! We shall ask for the relevant information to get your contract started. This will include photographic identification from either a passport or driver’s licence.

Do you sell packing materials?

Yes, Bigfoot offers a wide range of packing materials to help ensure all your possessions are packed and wrapped safely and securely. We guarantee that all our products offer top quality and value for money.

Do you offer a van hire service?

Yes, we offer a free move-in van hire service. The van can be used to move your goods into storage when you book your storage unit. You will need to arrange temporary van insurance cover to drive the van, speak to a member of staff for details.

Can you arrange for the removal of my goods?

We work closely with a small number of local removers who we have established a successful working relationship with and would recommend. Speak to a member of staff for details.

Can I move to another unit if I need more space?

No problem! You are welcome to move your items into a larger or smaller unit as and when required (subject to availability).

Do you accept deliveries on my behalf?

Yes, Bigfoot can accept goods deliveries on your behalf. We can receive your parcels from couriers while you are out doing more important things, leaving you to collect at your convenience.

What do I need to do when I want to vacate my unit?

We require 14 day’s notice prior to vacating your storage unit. This can be given in person, in writing, or email.
